|
|
I've searched around on youtube and a few other sites but I can't seem to find anything suitable.
I want to find a cartoon I can show to kids about 6-8 years old in English, possibly with Korean subtitles. The idea is that the kids will be in groups of 4 and they will answer some simple questions about the cartoon as they go along. The winners will win prizes.
I would like the cartoon to be no more than 30 minutes long.
Has anybody done anything like this before and can offer some advice? And can anyone suggest a suitable cartoon that I can find online?
Any help greatly appreciated |

There are lots of the old Disney classics on youtube (Mickey Mouse Hawaiian vacation as an example) that are appropriate for a Q-A class for G1-3. Most are about 7 minutes long. No dialogue but watch and discuss.

Go for the classics - Disney, Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, and heck try some of the newer Pixar. Not too long sometimes the language is easy. As to subtitles get a subtitle creator and make them yourself, well English portion anyways.
Sometimes you have to get off of the Youtube sites because they are careful with copyrights and that. But many of what I suggested can be found on Torrent sites. |

Even English little kid shows (think bob the builder or something) could be useful. |

Check out Kids yahoo.kr, can't remember the exact web address but google it and you shall find.
There's a lot of junk but if you do some searching there's some pretty useful stuff as well.
It's all in Korean, so navigating the site is a bit of a challenge.
Go to the picture of the little pink house and click on the link, (I think that's the one) there's some sing along videos with subtitles if you want them.
On one of the other links there's some animated stories of various levels.
You'll have to preview a lot of the stuff to find which things are useful.
Also, go to Google and type in "esl kids animated reading".
You should find scads of sites like this one;
http://www.strivney-english.com/ESL-reading-exercises.asp
Hope this helps. |

Go to that website, click on the blue link for the episode you want, save the .smi file to the desktop or whatever. How you activate the subs depends on what program you're using to watch videos (*these are just subs, you'll hafta find the videos yourself).
If you're using Gomplayer (download here) you can literally drag the file icon onto the video while it plays). |

On youtube, there's that weird alien "Gogo". Its an ESL cartoon thats very basic and can be put into lesson plans. The downside is that it uses Australian accents so the kids may have a hard time understanding. Exposing them to different accents is good though (I do it).
There's also the Pumkins on youtube (weird looking pumpkin people). |
