So, I brought one of those yummy Costco big cakes to school, just to be nice. Man, alive, those Korean teachers were all hopping over each other to eat it. Our cakes are better than theirs and now they know it. When they wonder why westerners carry more weight, it's because our food is so much more deliecious and we have so much more variety. When everything tastes the same and has the same spicy taste or sweets are not very sweet (ddock), it probably doesn't lend itself to eating very much. I think its why they're slim and we're not. (Well actually I flucuate due to extreme exercise and then extreme laziness. Ha ha). |

I don't like the cakes here, most are French style and all air. I'm not crazy about non-gluten anything, either. I like the "chew" you get with wheat. Bread's pretty good, tho! |

I don't ever recall a Korean saying the cakes here are better. Then again, I don't really discuss cakes that often with people. |

Do you mean that huge rectangular cake? I hate those things.
About being overweight, I think iut is biological and genetic. Asians carry fat under their skin and the weight is usually distributed over the body more. Also in a superficial society, a lot more people do crash diets, starvation (borderline anorexia) and lyposuction.
Koreans eat plenty. They are total gluttons. |

Diet, friend.
I know several overweight Koreans in the states. Less likely to happen here because of the intake. |

Speaking of cakes, does anyone know where I can get red velvet cake in Korea? I've looked everywhere but can't find it! |

But those Costco cakes are western style. The Korean ones are less fluffy and more expensive for something really small. Point being is that when everything tastes spicy and has a similiar taste iver the years, you tend to get less excited about food and wanting to eat. That's why many older Koreans don't eat as much and stay slim. As for the younger ones who are slim, I agreee they starve themselves and it's very different. I don't live near Costco. I live in a different city and the teachers were all very impressed by the cake. They really couldn't get over it. I told that's why Westerners are bigger. Our food has so much variety and we've incorporated so many international foods. There is so much choice that we really have to resist our urges and excercise more. Just my theory. |

They had it at Costco. It comes and goes there.
OP, everything from the Costco bakery section has gone over well with my co-workers except pumpkin pie. Muffins? Yes. Cookies? Yes. Cheesecake? YES! |

Those cakes are far, far superior to any of the Korean cakes out there. Not even close. And they are cheaper to as well. Thanks to Costco. |

Same reaction here.
Under their skin as opposed to where? |
