I have people coming to my door at least twice a week, usually on a Saturday and at least one weekday. I know who they are. I don't want to talk to them. I never answer my door. Now, they have decided to ring my doorbell multiple times in a row, I assume in an attempt to annoy me into answering my door. The last time it was 4 times in a row. This morning it was 5. I can continue to ignore them, but this is getting irritating. I obviously do not want to talk to them, but they are either not taking the hint, or ignoring it. Is there anything I can do about this? I know some of you may be thinking the obvious solution is to answer the door and tell them off but I don't want to do this because (a)I work late and sleep late and am usually not dressed when they are here, (b)I'm afraid that will encourage them, and (c)any polite attempts I make to make them stop will probably be ineffective and I don't want an ugly confrontation. Any suggestions? Are there any laws against what they are doing?

I understand your annoyance. That would make me very angry. I don't know what you can do about this, given that you don't want to confront them. Maybe someone else will have a good suggestion. I will pray that they walk out in front of a bus or something. Twisted Evil No, that's terrible, i take that back.

Jehova's Witnesses or Mormons? Very Happy

The answer is to get someone who knows Korean to put up a sign that says "No soliciting" or "Do not ring my doorbell" or to just straight up yell at them and scare them away. When language barrier intrude, loud noises are always understood.

I'm reasonably certain they are Jehovah's Witnesses because I have met some who live near me. I've talked to them and they seem nice, (and persistent) but I am not interested in joining. What really gets under my skin is that people have either watched me or questioned other people to find out where I live. To each his own, but I draw the line at stalking.

Paste some Buddhist insignia up on your door.

That would work too. Seriously, just tell them "ANNIYO" and forcefully close the door. Ain't NOBODY coming back after that.

Good lord my blood would be boiling if someone rang my bell on a Saturday, let alone 4 or 5 times, let alone religious nutters.

A few years/schools ago, I had the same people putting the same sales cards on my door from a local Korean restaurant EVERY DAY. I mean EVERY DAY. It was ridiculous. I saved a bunch of those so I saved them up, and, the one rare Saturday when I was home because I had a cold, I left my door open to air out my place. Are you with me so far? Good.

Well, one of their flunkies was outside and he left a card on my door. I got up, looked at it, and I grabbed all of the cards I had from that restaurant, and I threw them all at him. He was still in the hallway. I yelled " Keep your "sh--t" to yourself." He slinked away and I never had anything from that restaurant stuck on my door.

Hang a wiccan pentacle on your door. That'll get them running for the hills.

BTW, a few years ago, Korean police found numbers written next to doors in large officetels, and they suspected that it was because of apartments targerted for breakins. If anyone ever writes anything, in Korean or just numbers, on your door or next to your apartment, erase it ASAP. Just a warning.

One time, two followers of New Jerusalem Mother came to my door.
I looked up the word for "evolutionist" on my 전자사전, showed it to them, and told them that that was what I was.
They gasped in horror.

Tell them you're a 진화론자, whether you are or not.
If they come back again, give them a Korean translation of Origin of Species.

Print out a stack of atheism pamphlets and hand them to all religious door knockers.

Don't you have the little video intercom thing on the inside that allows you to see the person?

No. I have a peephole in the door. I don't bother looking anymore because I already know who it is and if they hear me, they start shouting at me. So irritating.

Hahaha, they hear you inside and start yelling? Hilarious. Never a dull moment in Korea. Give them an earful next time. It works.

Yeah, they'll start shouting "hello" through the door if they know I'm there. I have tried to just ignore them, thinking that they would give up if I never answered the door, but apparently it's just making them more persistent.
