I got tired of waiting for the FBI CBC to come, and so have taken another job elsewhere. But I'd still like to teach in Korea at some future point, and so I am wondering if there is any talk of eliminating the long wait that is required for getting the E2 visa? 3 months waiting for the FBI CBC is just too long. Does anyone know if the ROK govt or legislative body is considering amending the laws governing E2 visas in such a way that prospective teachers won't have so long to wait? |

Kimmi has made it clear that because of the fractured justice system in the US they have no intention of changing away from the FBI / national checks.
It makes no difference to any of the other 6 countries who qualify for an E2 to teach English (their countries already have a unified CBC database).

Changes are never far away when it comes to Korean immigration regulations.
I think they've been changed in some way every year for the past 10.
..hard to predict what the next tweak will involve though.
I'm guessing they might start to demand a TEFL qualification of some sort. |
