I'm aware that it is rainy season in both places. But if you had to choose one, which is the safer bet in regards to weather? |

About the same; late afternoon showers most days with clear mornings and evenings.
Boracay will have on-shore breezes during July-Sept so the beach isn't as clean and clear as it is at other times of the year.

I'd probably go with Phuket, as you just have more to do.
Boracay is a beautiful place, but outside of the beach itself and the businesses immediately on the beach, you won't have much else to do. If they put the large windbreaker stuff up along the beach, it's also not much to look at during that time.
Phuket at least have a gazillion other things to do besides the beach. |

Phuket for the simple reason that Phuket is better than Boracay.
Stay in Patong if you want to have a good time at night and Karon if you have a family. |

is the airport at Boracay open? Last year I had to fly into Kalibo and drive 2 hours to get to Boracay becuase the runway was damaged. It really sucked. The driver ran over some chickens too and everyone was cramped inside a van and got carsick.
Although Boracay was beautiful once we got there. |

Why do I find that so easy to believe?

SEA air still flies into Caticlan.
The others (with the little jets) all go to Kalibo and you get the van ride.

Done! I just booked roundtrip tickets to the Philippines in August for 220,000 round trip! It was a sale Cebu Pacific had on Sunday. |

Boracay will be full of Koreans... I know they're everywhere, but they're the majority in that place... and I know how this is going to sound, but one thing I look forward to the most when I go on vacation is getting away from anything Korean. |

My experiences in Boracay have led me to believe that most Koreans are only intrusive in the buffet lines down there. My family and I were there last Chuseok and we were surprised by how many groups of young Korean women were there. Very attractive ones too. They're looking to have a good time, but it's hard to meet the right guys to hang out with. You may think I'm kidding, but I'm not! They were constantly approaching us, asking to play with my boy, and saying how much they'd like to meet a "nice" foreigner like my wife had. Take it for what you will. |

I saw a lot of Koreans in Boracay also, moving along in packs of 10 - 15 people. The women in their high heels trying to walk down the beach.
Boracay is nice and so is Phuket, but I'd recommend Phuket because there's more to do. I get a little bored after 2 days on Boracay. |

Yhey mostly congregate and the world's most timid people rarely go outside of their set area. The tour guide forbids them also and you know how Koreans are with false symbols of authority.
Phuket is just plain better and way more comfortable to get there.

So I'm actually planning to go to both places. I got tickets for Philippines already, but am still searching for a good deal to Phuket in September. Jin Air has roundtrip to Bangkok for $450, but I'd still have to get a flight to Phuket.
Any ideas?? |
