Good question, but I'm going to have to go with Hungary, they're cheaper and there are plenty that are close to Budapest. |

Well Anyang does have Slang, which is frequented by numerous Korean celebrities, including Rain and 2pm. Jay-Z, who spent his formative years in Korea as the son of an Army officer, and his entourage debuted their new album there last February with a special rap homage to Anyang, entitled, "Anyang is Going On." For the more sophisticated, there is Happy Days, which brings in an eclectic mixture of Korean elites and Canadian international businessmen. They usually let English teachers in as long as they adhere to the business casual dress code.
Bundang is just some third rate satellite city with a few crappy foreigner bars and maybe some dance club that high school kids sneak into. |

Slang is the spot to be if you're R. Kelly.
I swear I saw a few of my middle school students there last time.

The owner of Slang is awesome, always rewards her regulars with a house shot or beer. The crowd in there is normally pretty good on Friday and Saturday nights, a good mix of foreigners and Koreans (although the men tend to usually far outweigh the ladies,) decently priced drinks. The crowd can be a bit young, as others alluded, but not all of us ESL'ers are pushing 30 |

Yes, join the legions of newbs who start at Happidus, move to Slang around three, then stumble home sometime around dawn, without ever bothering to see what else might be in Beomgye, let alone Greater Anyang. |

Bundang is barely a city. I think there's about one cell phone store and only three rice stores. The Korean government has recently constructed Bundang as a ploy to make farm life more appealing to the younger generation in the wake of a huge cabbage blight, but nobody is falling for this Potemkin village. I'd suggest getting your facts straight before you get stuck living in a grass hut with some old folks who expect their guest to earn his keep. Maybe the recruiter said that you'll have a "private" apartment in the "suburbs," but those things have different meanings here. Expect much of your night life to be spent gleaning for millet by candlelight if you move to Bundang. |

Anyang is good. It has a bit of everything. The downtown area is happening and there are quiet/clean areas as well. The Anyang area is big enough and has so many English teachers that there are pockets of foreigners and foreign hang outs everywhere.
Bundang on the other hand, is really new and upscale but also feels a lot smaller than Anyang. I don't think it has nearly as much of a foreign scene. |

Suburban living in the American context doesn't really exist in Korea. |
