I'm going to be moving to S.Korea in the next couple of months and was wondering how the cost of a guitar compares to the UK. I assume the classic stuff is a similar price but I'm thinking of some sort of good quality strat or telecaster copy.

Go the music market at Euljiro Sam Ga

I paid maybe 25% more than I would have in Canada, but that's because I probably would have been able to shop around better in Canada with the use of English and the internet.

I got a Cort (Korean) acoustic when I was there. Cost 160,000 won and they threw in a crappy leather guitar case. That was back in 2005/2006.

You can get a Fender Squier strat for around 350k ish (possibly lower, if you negotiate....but you will get loads of free stuff thrown in too lke a case, strings etc)....some of the Korean brands are cheaper, like Cort/Kawasami(?)/Swing...some less than 200k but I`d pay a bit more for the quality.....a rough guide.....

If you`re looking at acoustics, I highly recommend Crafter....excellent value for money and good build quality.

Don't but a Fender Squire. They're $100 in the US for a reason.
