There might be a surfing festival this summer in June too.
Busan gets most of the swell (suffice to say, not huge waves so longboards are better) and has 3 shops/surf clubs for you to choose from to get your lessons. Min Camp and Minossurf have English speaking instructors.
There is a surf shop in Jeju too but I forgot the name.

Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
There's no real surf here, unless you like surfing 1 to 2 foot swells. Save yourself the frustration, and plan a weekend away to Japan for some real surfing. |

I used to think that was true, until this past December. I saw about 4 or 5 guys surfing Haeundae Beach and the waves were well overhead. I was so astounded I forgot to take pictures. |

Unfortunately, that only happens a couple to a few a times a year. Have fun predicting when that's gonna happen, especially if you live far away from Haeundae beach. |

Because surfers don't live near beaches. I work with a surfer here in Seogwipo and he chose Jeju Island because of the surfing, has a board (as surfers usually do) and goes to Jungmun beach to surf. |

Well not everyone can get a job near a beach in Korea now can they . Moron.
After ten years of living here, I've found most of the people I've met here who are surfers, don't live near the beaches. And why is that? Because Korea isn't a surfing destination and it's not what people are thinking about when they come here.
I'm a born and bred surfer whose lived a 5 minute walk to the beach all my life and I researched surfing in Korea before I came and found nothing. The city I live in wasn't even on the Internet back then. There was absolutely nothing about surfing here so I brought my snowboard with me instead. Plenty of info about snowboarding here, lol.
For someone like me whose a religious surfer (daily surfer, every morning and afternoon), Korea just doesn't cut it for surfers. The thing I miss most when spring and summer roll around is surfing but I know from experience that it's just more stress and hassle then it's worth to find somewhere you can surf and at the same time has actually surfable waves.
The decent surf here is so few and far between that it's just not worth buying a board and waiting, pissing myself off, hoping that there might be something surfable. |

Jungmun is complete crap for surfing. It insults the very word surfing!! So before you give it the bobby big one be careful what you write!! I've lived on this over hyped island for years and surfing it aint good for boy!!!! |

Big buds that Louis dude is always writing nonsense about Jeju. He's got a real delusional outlook on this fair island. He's probably from Canada where it's -40 6 months of the year and he's never been anywhere in his little sad existence. |

One of the reasons I've don't really like Jeju is the fact that they keep pushing it as the "Hawaii" of Asia, hahahahahaha bahahahahahahaha.
I've been to Hawaii over half a dozen times surfing and Jeju is NOTHING like Hawaii!!! Hawaii sh*ts on Jeju in every way. |

Louis, if you want to know what real surfing is check out the documentary made about my surfing crew back home, "BRA Boys". (Board Riders Association)
You can find it on any of the torrent sites. It's the highest grossing documentary in Australian history and narrated by Russel Crowe. |
