|

I was thinking of going with the 45KW lite plan with 500MB data.
Can an average user get by with that? I plan on using my house wifi when at home.
Could some of the experienced smartphone users here tell me how many MB you use on average and how you use your phone.
I'm just trying to get a grasp on my needs. Thank for your time. |

Yeah. Easy. If you're using wi-fi for the heavy-data functions like Youtube.
A couple of hours internet browsing per day on the 3G service will rack up about 200MB per month. Maybe up to 300MB. Just never stream video using 3G. Video is the big user of data.
But stick to wi-fi and you'll easily be under 500MB. |

462 mb that's with a fair number of images sent via kakaotalk, but don't forget you also get less text messages in general as well as minutes.
if all your friends use kakaotalk you're probably okay, but if a lot of your friends don't have smart phones you might end up easily going over your 200 text messages (only like 6-7 a day) |

Thanks for the input crossmr. I'm not that social, but I'm active on FB...and perhaps would like to use Skype (or alternative) on occasion, if that's even possible.
I predict my usage will be mostly as a super-duper, study korean/mess with apps/ebook reader/gaming-PMP...with a secondary phone function.
Internet-wise, I'll probably play around with GPS/Google maps, check my FB and use google search when I have Cliff Claven moments.
I'm leaning toward the Moto Atrix with Tegra2 |

Big killer for me is streaming internet radio during commutes. Makes the unlimited plan for me. |

If you use the 500mb plan, the good thing is that unused data is rolled over to the next month, I believe. Personally I went for the unlimited data on iphone and I'm quite happy with it. |

OP why don't you sign up for the 500MB or higher plan and see how you go? You can always change which plan you want at a later date. |

@zappadelta. I'm glad you like it.
Is everything in English and is there any weird, annoying stuff installed my the provider. I'm hoping it can do sideloading. |

500 MB is rough would go with extra 10,000 won and get unlimited and some peace of mind you're not gonna go over. |

I find the data rates to be extravagant. On my current dumb-phone I pay 15-20K/month. With even the lite data plans I am well over double that amount. Add another 10K...and well, I just can't bring myself to spend over 60K.
The lite and an almost free phone was just enough to get me to try a data plan for the first time. |

With the right conditions, I'm with the OP on this one. If I wasn't living in the depths of rice fields, travel randomly to unknown places, don't call that much, don't text that much, and have very basic needs with internet, I might not even need data plans.
But given 3-4 months and get used to paying 45k something won, you might consider upgrading anyway. The price, in exchange of paranoia (counting minutes and texts and data and comparing it to the monthly bill). |

You can INCREASE your plan, but not DECREASE, unfortunately.
Honestly, if you're borderline about it, I'd get the unlimited. The reason is they're going to stop the unlimited plans in the near future, and it's probably a good idea to get into a contract on one now. |

With SKT I get unlimited data, 300 min of calls, and 200 texts for 55,000 won a month on a 2 year plan for my Samsung. I rarely call people, so I never go over my minutes, and I just use Kakao for texting, for the most part. |
