|
|
I've just booked a flight to Boracay for the end of July. I've never been before, so not sure what to do about accommodation. Does anyone have any recommendations for a low/medium budget? I'm going with my boyfriend, so not looking for a hostel sharing with other people. Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks |

There are no shortage of places to stay and there is something for every budget (p800 for a room with private bath and a fan to p5000+ for a private suite with all the mod-cons).
You can get a pretty good idea of the places, rates and locations from http://www.boracay.com/ .
Something around boat station 2 is probably your best bet for being central. Expect rates in the p2000 range for a nice room with air, private bath and breakfast for 2.

The coolest place to stay in boracay, if they are renting at that time (private residence), is the Spider House on Diniwid beach. They have a website somewhere. Its bamboo house built on a cliff/rocks over the water. You can snorkel right from the main room. Really cool people. Very unique look. They also have a staff that will cook food for you and they have their own boat that you can rent for like 30 bucks for the whole day and go island hopping or do whatever you want. I paid about 30-35 a night for a private room with an ocean view. Very pleased with my stay. Diniwid is a lot more relaxed that White beach. You can walk to White Beach from Diniwid (maybe 25 minuntes, all along the ocean), it is practically the same beach, but separated by a little cliff.
Here's a link, not to their site though. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g294260-d2023414-Reviews-Spider_House_Resort-Boracay_Visayas.html |

Is Dinwidi(sp) on the other side of the island because the sewerage gets pumped directley out into the sea on that side. If its at either end of the island then it sounds great.
I stayed at davesstrawhatinn for a month a couple of years ago. It's down the quiet end of the beach and is Tripadvisors most popular place to stay. Very chilled and relaxing and trully awesome laidback but efficient staff.
Depending when you're going, (i.e quiet times vs busy times) it pays to just book a couple of days over the net. Because you get really good discounts by turning up in person on Boracay. |

No, Its on the same stretch of sand as white beach. There is just a rock face that breaks the two apart. Didn't know they pumped sewage on the other side. There are mostly just windsurfers there. |

Awesome! Cheers for you link ( don't know how I missed that the first time ), I agree with you. It looks very quirky and the reviews I read make it sound like a great place to stay. I might well go back to Boracay with my gf just to check it out
As for the the sewerage thing.
Some ex pats and filipinas have told me about the sewerage getting pumped out on the other side of the island (I've been to Boracay a few times). I used to drink occassionally at a bar, just around the corner from D mall, on the rooftop of the supermarket. Where ex-pats hang out for happy hour and to watch Rugby League and Rugby on the Australian Channel.
Just go up there anytime and ask a few questions about the island. The ex-pats who own land and businesses on the island find it quite funny that other more naive foreign investors are buying up land at huge prices close to the 's##t pond' as they call it and sewerage outlet. |
