I went to renew my public school contract and the guy only gave me 12 months and not 13. I thought we were suppose to get 13 months now. Also, I have to give my updated degree and criminal check to my POE and not to immigration. They dont even want it, only my POE does. So does this mean if I want to change jobs in the future, I have to go through this again? This is a real bummer. |

I mean I was really looking forward to having that extra month at the end to take my time to find a new job. |

You thought the school would sign a 13 month contract where the 13th month you don't work and can find a job? Did you also expect to get paid for this 13th month? |

I think he means the 13 month visa -- my contracted year runs from September to September, but I have had a visa that ran from September to October of the following year (thus, 13 months). I was told that this was a kindness on the part of the guy working at immigration that day, intended to relieve the stress of leaving the day after my contract expires, if that were my plan. It WAS helpful and nice, but I didn't think it was a new "standard practice." My current visa, from the same office, is the normal 12 month variety.... |

Just checked mine. It says 13 months. Issued in Vancouver, Canada (my first visa). Kimmi - our policies may vary(tm). |
