I have to plan our Halloween party. Does anyone have any suggestions for games or anything that could help me out?
Thanks |

Ghost bowling.
Fill up some empty cola bottles with water, draw a ghost on some paper, tape the ghost on, get a ball, watch your kindy kids go nuts.
Totally non educational but fun. |

The last two years for halloween we have made up a haunted house in one of the classrooms.
Black out all the windows, hang bedsheets from the ceiling, making a couple of corridors, put in jack o lanterns, some webs and spiders(cant remember where we got them but they are available) strap a balloon to a flashlight and you have some eerie red or green light, some scary halloween sounds that we downloaded from the web. Have kids make up assorted ghosts, witches, jack o'lanterns etc to decorate with.
Stock classroom with a couple of teachers in costume hidden away to jump out and grab students.
My kids loved it, they talked about it for months. When I asked them what the best holiday was(thinking Chuseok or Solel)they all said Halloween and that was in January |

We do that too, in our hogwan's playroom. It's great. We like to see how many of them we can make cry.
(Before anyone gets too upset at me, the criers are usually the first in line to go back in a second time.) |

The ones who scream and cry the loudest are always first in line for a second trip through the room of doom |

One idea from my childhood school Halloween carnival days that we may be doing here is the Jail. Kids can pay with some tickets or fake money to sign a warrant to "arrest" someone else in the building. The sheriff picks off that person and holds them in a pen in the front lobby for a few minutes. The inmate can wait it out or make bail. It's pretty fun.
I'm curious to see what scores get settled on that one.
--------
I'm also one of the ones in charge of the haunted house. I used to do the more professional ones back at home, so this is going to be fun. The thing is, we have no budget to work with. I'm in the process of scouring the art room for ideas. I've been experimenting with carving styrofoam boards into gravestones. They work great but disintegrate when you put spray paint on them. We're also doing spiders on pulleys and making a maze using black plastic, along with the usual Spooky Boxes, where kids stick their hands in and feel nasty stuff.
--------
Anyway, there are lots of sites out there for Halloween party and haunted house ideas. I hit the motherlode this morning. |

Another idea is to have students send talking Halloween cards to each other.
There are also Halloween worksheets that you can have them do as a warm-up to learn some Halloween vocabulary. |
