|
Woke up this morning and the iPhone asked if I wanted to download a carrier update, so I did. When I checked my carrier settings I found
Automatic (checked)
KT
KOR SK Telecom
Since my iPhone is from KT Olleh and I was worried that I'd get charged extra for hopping on to the SK network (if possible. My data roaming is also on 'off.'), I unchecked 'Automatic' and checked 'KT.'
Was I just being a worrywart? Should I just leave it on 'Automatic'? |

you're fine in leaving data roaming off. No need to worry about anything. |

The "carrier update" just refers to internal settings in the iPhone that it needs to run on the network properly (data ap addresses, etc). It doesn't mean that it will allow your phone to hop onto SK's network, if you are a KT subscriber. (That setting that you see is just a result of a scan of the region you're in, if you opened that same setting window in US, you'd see Tmobile and AT&T).
You can see the version of your carrier bundle by going to Settings > General > About > Carrier. I believe the latest update for KT was 10.1.
