I don't know what BBM is, but you can use Skype and Kakao Talk on Iphone or Android to communicate worldwide. Both are free.

If you don't plan on web surfing with your smartphone a lot, like it's mini computer, as I do, then go for the I-phone. We own both the I-phone 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S in our house. The I-phone is a better phone, but lacks Flash capability for web surfing. As mentioned elsewhere, that is becoming less of an issue these days, as most larger sites have an app or a special smartphone page to get around that issue. It really comes down to how much web surfing you're going to do.

Honestly, I find the I-phone (my wife's) easier to use, and it is a lot more stable. Mail is easier. Checking weather easier. Apps like Skype, Facebook, as well as many news apps are more stable. Playing .mp3 music is a far better/easier experience (and more stable, I've actually found) on the I-phone. Overall, the I-phone is faster, and the list goes on.

The I-phone camera is awesome, while the Android phone cameras (like my Galaxy S) are not that great. Also, it drives me nuts that I have to manually clean-out the Ram and close open background applications on the Galaxy S. You don't have to mess with that with Apple. Sometimes I wonder how much battery is saved just because of that hastle.

I am content with my S, but would have rather gotten the I-phone. I really really need Flash, and Apple just refuses to support it for control and monetary reasons.

The blackberry, while nice for business people, is really not in the same league.

Don't get a blackberry! Why? According to a friend of mine who owns one, many of his phones functions simply don't work properly here in Korea for what ever reason.

This Autumn there might be another tech war in Korea between the Galaxy S2 and the iPhone 5...........I'd hold out till then for probably highly competitive contracts.

I am using an iPod touch 4g, wibro egg2 for Internet and free app called talk atone to call friends in the u.s. for free. You do need a U.S. google voice number for talkatone to work in this setup.
