Has anyone ever gotten a less than a year extension with their public school job? I'm currently seeking a three month extension for my contract which ends in October.
When I wanted to renew last time, my school said that they'd give me a three month extension with the possibility of a full year when they had a better idea of the budget (and I got that full year). This time I absolutely only want to stay for three months though, and I figured because of what happened last time (and because my contract ends at an irregular time) it wouldn't be a problem, though who knows. |

The problem here is that 3 months later it will be February. They usually want people from March. So, they would have to go 1 month without a teacher or try to find someone to start in February to replace you.
If you are able to stay 4 months, it might increase your chances significantly. |
