I am about to throw in my application for EPIK. I see that a FBI CBC is needed. I was arrested but never taken to jail while I was in college in 2008. I was admitted to pretrial diversion and the charge was dismissed and expunged. Will this be an issue for obtaining a visa? |

Thank you for the reply. I was under the impression that it would not show up on a FBI CBC because I was not fingerprinted. |

There's only one way to find out. I'd say the chances are a wash. From talking to the FBI it seems that some places send them everyone that gets arrested and some places send them only the people that get printed. Good luck. |

For what it's worth, I was in the exact situation. I was arrested on a charge, went through a diversion program and the charges were expunged. I was worried about that when I applied for my FBI CBC.
The CBC came back with "no records." Expunged means expunged; i.e., the record is not supposed to show up again. In light of the fact that you were also not fingerprinted, I think you will be OK with your CBC, subby. |

The problem being that arrests will sometimes show up, even if the record was expunged. My friend was arrested and had the offense expunged, but the arrest itself still pops on his CBC (though he is able to be here). |

You're probably okay but, to be perfectly honest, you're not going to know 100% for sure until you have the thing in your hands. Go ahead and apply for it and try not to worry about it. |

Same here.
I was fingerprinted when I was arrested and my CBC still came back cleared.
Hope everything works out for you! |

Judging by your name (only us hicks from Nebraska... ), you'll be fine. I know about the pre-trial program in Lancaster County, and can tell you that it won't show up. Hope you got a good story out of it at least. |
