Anyone know if you can get a Korean drivers license using a valid drivers license from a country that isn't your home country? Unfortunately my DL from home is expired.

Both countries qualify for the relatively painless DL swap, BTW.

Well, I was in a similar situation once. I wanted/needed to drive in Korea, my Ontario license was expired, and I wasn't going to be back in Canada for a while, so I wound up starting at the beginning and got a Korean license from scratch. (An interesting process to say the least, and not without a little stress.) Anyway, when I later moved back to Canada I just flipped it for a Quebec one. Can't help with regard to license from a 3rd country, but I do know they won't accept an expired license.

I did it using an Australian (NSW) drivers licence with a New Zealand Passport.
I did have a NZ drivers licence as well but the certifying of the Australian one was simpler.
It cause a bit of confusion at the counter. Basically I had to go through the passport and prove that I had been in Australia for a lengthy period of time. But no problem, only took about 30mins. ( this was back in 2006)

sk.
