I lost my passport in Korea and am about to order a new one, but I am confused on what to do about my E2 visa. How do I get another one? I am planning on going to Vietnam in about 7 weeks. Does anyone know what I would need to do so I wont have any problems with immigration? |

1. Go to your country's embassy or consulate here to get a replacement passport.
2. Take that passport to your local Immigration office for them to enter your new information in their database.
3. Finally, apply for a visa to Việt Nam. |

Your alien card is what you need if you are just talking about going on vacation and coming back. The only time the page in your passport comes into play is coming into the country without an ARC and registering for your ARC.
If you need a new E-2 visa because you are changing schools or something than the process would be the same as it was he first time around minus the interview. |

Eh, I assume you mean that you'll have a passport with you right?
Don't you have to contact your local cop shop, report the passport lost and get a document from the police? |

You need your passport for ALL international travel. There are NO EXCEPTIONS in Asia.
You need your ARC to keep Kimmi happy and get back into Korea.
Process:
Go to your embassy and jump through their hoops to get a replacement passport (hope you are not Canadian cause they are a pain in the butt to get a replacement from).
AFTER you get your new passport you have 2 weeks to report the change to Kimmi. It is just a matter of popping into their office, filling in the form and attaching a copy of your new passport to it. They will update their files.
Your ARC is your re-entry permit back into Korea.

I don't think this is entirely accurate. I know that the Chinese require at least six months validity left on a Korean visa for them to issue an entry visa. If you didn't have the visa in the passport when you sent it for the visa, how could you prove it? As far as Korea is concerned, yeah, the sticker doesn't mean anything once you have the ARC, but other countries it could be an issue. |

Almost correct. The ARC and updates to your ARC define your status of sojourn (stay in Korea and proof of time remaining).
My visa expired 3 years ago but my ARC is valid till next Feb.
The ARC is proof enough for the Chinese embassy of your status in Korea.
Kimmi (typically) does NOT update anything in your passport when you get a new one or a replacement for an old one.

Police report, affidavit, dealing with the counter staff.... PLUS the usual paperwork for a passport application while abroad.
