I'm thinking about switching to Windows 7 but am wondering if the "Anytime Upgrade" will work from Vista to 7?
It seems like once I download the upgrade I can just click on it like any other .exe and will install the new OS inside of Vista without having to do a reinstall of the OS? |

it will work relatively problem free as long as your are going to and from the same bit version.
When I did the same to my GF's computer there were some problems with a few programs and for that reason I would recommend backing everything up to an external and doing a fresh install. |

What programs did you have problems with and how did you sort it out? I seem to have a few that are uncooperative after the upgrade. In general performance is much improved but I just tried to open Opera and it took 5 minutes. I also tried to uninstall ITunes... it never completed, again, several minutes so I am attempting a Restart... it's still logging off... several minutes... sigh. |

I ended up rolling hers back and doing a fresh install.
I had a lot of problems with, as you said, Itunes and most of her media and editing software.
If you dont want to / cant roll it back. I would suggest downloading revo uninstaller
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
(must have program for all PC users IMO)
it will get rid of anything that you dont need and clear the registry for you, allowing you to do fresh installs. |
