I am wanting to get a new ipod shipped here to seoul from a family member in the states. Anyone have any experience with this? Will it be held at customs and taxed? Should i have some jeans in the package and have the ipod placed in the jean pockets?

You are allowed 150 000 duty free imports (that must include shipping). Anything over that value will be held at customs and you have to deposit (I believe it's 20 or 30%) tax to a customs bank account to get your stuff delivered to you. Your parents could mark it as a gift with a lower value and not say that it is an ipod. I'm not sure if customs scans packages or not.

Get your parents to take it out of the box, remove all the wrappers, labels etc. Then get them to use it for a week, load some music on it. Then send it without any of the packaging.

That way it is 'used' and it will appear as if they are sending you one of your belongings from home. Get them to throw in some other nick nacks to make it appear legit.

Or have them slip it into something worthless, like a box of soap or something. Just don't get I sent in the original packaging and you'll be fine as long as it's hidden in something. They won't have time to go through every single package and open every box in each package.

Also get them to write in correct Hangul that it's just miscellaneous crap with no value.

thanks guys, you're right about marking it....If i slipped it into a jean pocket and didn't declare it, someone could just pocket it at customs. There would be no proof because it wasn't written in the package contents...I guess I will just go the personal goods route with other miscellaneous items inside.
