Anyone have this card? Is it worth the 120,000 per year? |

I have a regular Samsung Card. A month ago I called Samsung and asked if my regular card covered rental car insurance and was told no. The person said if I got the AMEX card that it would cover rental car insurance. So I guess it depends on what benefits you want. |

I almost applied for this card, but decided it wasn't worth it. Most of the benefits are for international travel. On the brochure they advertise free upgrades to business class on Asiana international flights, which sounded like an amazing deal to me even if you only fly home once a year. Then I went to the website to get more details. It's limited by availablity, so if business class is full of paying customers that day you're out of luck. I expected that much, but it's also only valid for flights to China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. And there is a limit of one upgrade per year. Hardly as good of a deal as it sounded like before, but I guess it may be worth it to you if you want to take a trip to Thailand in style and you're lucky enough to choose the right dates.
They also offer a 5% discount on airline tickets, but only if you purchase through their partner travel agency. Again, not really that great since you can probably find a better deal by comparison shopping anyway.
There's travel insurance of some kind, but I wasn't able to find a lot of details about how it works.
There's also some kind of international emergency phone number they offer to gold card holders where you can call them up and they'll do free translation or help you get out of a jam or whatever. Probably not that useful to you if you speak English.
It also earns a slightly higher rate of mileage/points than the regular Amex card if that interests you at all (1% vs 0.5% for the regular card) |
