|
|
Just wanted to hear others opinions and thoughts on this. I'll also briefly talk about mine.
I am currently dating a female Korean coworker. We had kept it on the DL for the first month, but other coworkers eventually found out. It is a small hagwon so it's a bit more difficult to hide things. Our boss is slowly figuring it out despite our best attempt to hide it and keep it very professional. Nothing negative has been said and I don't think it will ever be a problem if it stays professional in work and we aren't cruising the streets and galbi places near the hagwon holding hands and kissing.
Anyone else have similar or bad experiences? |

I started dating a co-worker with about 2 months left on my contract. We didn't tell anyone at work until my contract was finished. I signed on at a different place after that and then we let the cat out of the bag. I was well-liked by the staff and bosses, so they seemed pretty ok with us dating (but again, this was after I was beyond their clutches, so it was a moot point by then.) |

I'm gonna assume that, as long as you're both the same status there, nobody will really care. The only real problem is breaking up later. Could get awkward if it's not a clean break.

Unless she is an extraordinary woman I would never date a co-worker, that is another teacher. Ultimate turn off. The women think that since they run the show in the classroom they can do the same in the relationship. No dice!
If she is the cleaner, the cook (if your school has one) or an adult student then that would click for me. This way my apartment is clean, I am well fed or I can be the boss to an even more intense degree. |

Did it for eight months with a Korean teacher from my school. Foreigner teachers knew, Korean teachers were kept in the dark. Management knew nothing. We let the cat out of the bag a few weeks ago, as she left in March. Bosses know now, no negative repercussions. |

Lol! I couldn't imagine dating the cook at any of the schools I worked at but yeah, I guess you'd be well-fed! |

As for me I would jump on anything, coworker or non-coworker, male or female, Korean or whitey. |

So what you're saying is that you're a bit of a control freak. |

Wow. Forget dem crazy ideas of wimmins bein' equal and relationships bein' about two people compromisin' and workin' together and all that crap. Get back in the kitchen an' make me a sammich, woman! I'm runnin' the show here. We ain't equal in this r'lationship.
You sound like a real catch. And I'm not even going to touch the bit about you having no issues having a relationship with one of your adult students. |

I personally think you shouldn't mix business with personal affairs but don't worry too much about how the Korean staff will look at you. Koreans aren't big on professionalism. If anything, you should be more worried about dating a Korean woman while being white (or just being non-Korean in general). |
