|
|
I had expected milder pollen allergies in Korea than where I'd lived before, but have instead discovered the onset of pollen allergy at a later time in the year (now).
I'm running low on the Claritin (loratadine) I brought from North America, and teaching whilst having sneezing fits is not desired...
Is loratadine available in Korea without prescription? How about a comparable alternative? |

They sell Zyrtec over the counter here. Its not called zyrtec, but its the same active ingredient.
It goes by a lot of different names (depending on which pharmaceutical is making the generic). Its the most common allergy medicine in the pharmacy. If you tell them you have an "Ahl Leh luh Gi" then 99 times out of 100 they will give you the Zyrtec.
If you go to a clinic you can get a Claritin or Allegra prescription pretty easily. I usually print out the chemical name of it and show it to the doctor and tell them this is what I need. They try to only give you like 3 days worth. Insist on getting a 30 day supply. |

It's available and really cheap. It's only 2,000 to 2,500 won for a 10 pack.
Just say "allergy" at the pharmacy. |

Cetirizine is similar to Loratadine (well it works for me anyway) and is available over the counter. Just ask for it with Korean pronunciation.
Se Tee zee jeen. pretty cheap too. If they don't understand you at first back it up with Allergy in Korean pronunciation. Al ler kee. |
