Burners, as in participants in the Burning Man Project. Just curious, need to start making friends, I am out in Guri and have not made any friends yet. I figured that may be a good way to to start. |

I am! How long have you been in S. Korea? I live in Pyeongtaek, but am originally from MA... I usually do New England regional burns and miss them and the burner culture greatly! |

I am pretty much fresh off the plane, been here a few weeks. Last year was my first burn, I have gone to the Arizona events. There is nothing like burner culture, I have barely been here long and I already miss fire practice and all my friends. What do you miss the most about burner culture? |

There is a small but dedicated group spread out over the peninsula. We get together a couple of times a year and put on events in Jinju and Andong. |

What I miss about Burner culture (not to get all hippie dippy on you all): I miss the laid-back-ness of it all. I miss hooping in the sun and chatting with new and old friends. I miss the diversity of it all. I miss wearing whatever I want and coming up with interesting and comfortable outfits that represent my inner self. I miss the creative and non-corporate outlet that it presents. Is there some sort of meetup group for S. Korean Burners? I would LOVE to go to some events... |

Rumdiary- Thats awesome! Do they have a list serve or a website, how can i get in the know?
AsiaESLbound- RV's are for wimps, you gotta rough it a little! The best way to go is to buy into a theme camp that has a kitchen tent then everyone pitches in and everyone is cared for. One of the mane principles of burning man is radical self reliance, you have to go to Black Rock City at least once to understand the culture and once youv have gone once you will find yourself drawn back again and again. There is a saying among burners, we don't say "We're going to burning man" we say "We're going home." because there is no place else on earth more accepting and free.
Lexiloo555- I totally hear you on that, I just bought a hoop, I am not very good...ok not good at all but if i practice I will get it, I miss my pretty glow hoop my friend made me but it was just to expensive to ship. I had some serious home sickness after the burn this year, I was lucky my job started after Arizona Decompression so I had a chance to have one last hoora, Who knows if it will be at all possible to make it back this year, I know i will buy a ticket the second they go on sale though. We should hang out sometime if we can figure out somewhere in the middle |

I went to BRC in 2005 and have been to several regional burns in the US. Great fun, although the regional burns get way crazier. I'd be interested in having one here if the locals would participate...but I got a feeling "leave no trace" is not a concept they have even a clue about |
