I think this was mentioned as a rumor before but I just wanted to bring it up again.
I don't know how many of you know this but SMOE won't be hiring new high school NSETs. The thread before stated that SMOE feels that high school NSET classes aren't really effective because there isn't a structured plan like middle and elementary. If you go on the SMOE website, new applicants can only apply for middle and elementary.
Now, I'm in the boat full of high school NSETs in Seoul who want to renew another year. I talked to my coteacher today about this high school issue and she told me that it is true that SMOE won't be hiring new high school NSETs. However, they will keep current high school NSETs as long as the school decides to keep one. My coteacher assured me that I'll be fine for renewal and I should wait for the papers to come in.
Anyone else hear differently or care to comment? I'm just a little curious to see where other high school NSETs in Seoul are at in this little situation. |

Amoonbot, thank you for your post.
This is the first time that I've heard of this. I've had a really awesome experience at my school, so this comes as a shock to me. The students won't be happy and the teachers really want a NET here.
I've been with SMOE for three years, but now I'm packing it up and moving to China in September.
UPDATE:
OKay, I just check the SMOE ETIS website as well. The app form does only list elementary/middle schools but it also has listed Seoul Global High School (only a handful right?).
Any other ppl that can confirm? |
