Hi guys, its Tigerstyleone again.
I created our EPL fantasy football league for 2010-2011.
http://fantasy.premierleague.com/
Code to join this league: 418391-131731
I chose this site because its popular, easy to use, very comprehensive and challenging.
Best of all, our league will roll over year after year. So we don't have to rejoin each season and the number of teams can grow for many seasons to come. I hope this becomes a tradition or something like that.
I think it would be cool if we had a league for ESL teachers from all over the world.
This is going to be fun. |

I might join in on this. I'm not in Korea yet (I'll arrive mid August), are EPL games shown live? How many games are aired on the weekends? |

Fantasy sports are based on action. In baseball you have hits, runs, stolen bases, etc. In basketball you have points, rebounds, assists, etc. What could you possible have in soccer? They might have 1 or 2 goals a game. Just curious. |

I haven't checked this one, but it is usually assists, blocks, saves (GK), clean sheets plus goals. |

Hi there, please sign up. We only have 5 teams as of now.
Yes, games are shown on live TV in Korea. Saturday and Sunday nights one game at 9pm and the second game is at 11:30pm or 12am. They like to show ManU because of Park Ji Sung and Bolton because on Chongyoon, but there are also plenty of Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal games shown because Park isn't playing much these days.
You can also watch any team you want online for free at sites like Veetle, Realsportz, and myP2P sites and you get English commentary.
Unlimited transfers until kick off. Sign up, put a team together and tweak it until you're ready. |

I'm thinking about joining in on this. I don't have the perseverance to keep at these things, usually.
I rarely watch live games on TV. I love football, but find the experience of watching it so unsatisfying. For me, football is hard to watch on TV, because so much of the game happens off the ball. In many sports, the game is the ball. In football, I don't think this is true.
I will probably like it more the day I get a cable package that lets you choose a camera angle or even a player to watch. Some day, I want to be a coach so I would probably have a good time just following one player for the whole game (except the goalie ).
For my soccer fix, I just torrent Match Of The Day. The pundits suck, and they don't display the match clock (why, oh why?!), but I get to see the goals at least. Being at a football match every weekend is the thing I miss most about home. I fear my creaking, shell of what it once was, body may no longer be cut out for the lower echelons of competitive football.[/i] |

Yes, you make a good point, same with basketball too as its a rotation game and follow action away from the ball can be interesting.
I think the production crews of the EPL do a good job showing a scenic view of the game, but the action is so fast the best thing for them to do is follow the ball.
Come on a join, you'll become an expert on the whole league in one season. |

Haha, I've been playing Champ/Football Manager since 01/02, I already consider myself an expert
On long/wide shots I would like to see little tags ,FIFA/ Pro Evo style, that shows the players' names. I hate trying to figure out who the player is by the formation the manager is using that day. And sometimes MOTD doesn't tell you the team sheet.
You've twisted my arm. I will set up a squad when the transfer cuffafle dies down. |

Alright. My current team is
Foster
Nelsen
Haageland
Heitinga
L. Young
N'Zogbia
Lampard
Bowyer
Etherington
Bent
Rodallega
SUBS
Harper
Pantsil
Malbranque
Kenwyne Jones
They seemed like value comparing their score last year, with their current value (I'm assuming their value fluctuates). Have a 16 point surplus, so will likely upgrade somewhat. Especially a GK, as I doubt Brum can recreate the defensive feat of last term. I did have Alex Song, but he has discipline issues. Pansil might find his way into the first squad, as he plays every game for a tight defense (though, Hughes isn't renowned for his tight D). Will probably replace Rod with a more prolific striker. |

You had to have Lampard didn't you? hahaha,
I doubt Bent will repeat his performance from last year, but who knows.
Will Stoke be as good this year too? |

I've joined too...I'm no expert in the EPL (I support Scottish and Korean teams) but, of course, just being a fan of football means knowing a fair bit about the EPL.
And I'm a big fan of football!
Looking forward to following this and seeing how it goes. I used to always do Fantasy Football leagues back in Scotland but haven't been in one since I came to Korea (years ago). This will also force me to keep up to date with the English league too, as an added bonus. Nice idea. |
