|
|
I've been wanting to get a Kindle, but rather than pay Amazon's shipping (and most likely) a Korean import fee, does anyone know the best place to get a Kindle with English? I'm thinking the big computer mart in Seoul, but I don't really know the electronic market well in Korea. Anyone have any leads? |

Brought my Kindle here from the US.
Reason they don't sell them here is because the device is basically locked to the Web site, like the iPad is locked to the iTunes store.
Almost no one in Korea uses Amazon for anything [my co-teachers have never even heard of them]. They use something called Aladdin instead. And there is virtually nothing on Amazon in Korean anyway. So there'd be virtually no market for them.
I like mine -- as long as you have an Amazon account with an American card linked to it, you can buy anything on it. You do need a 'clean' WiFi connection to download magazines though.
I wouldn't waste $ on the 3G version though, it's useless in Korea due to the different networks. Just build up a decent sized order [>$100 or so] and toss the Kindle in and the shipping surcharge won't be so bad.
It is like oxygen if you love to read! |

I disagree on the 3G. I have used it quite a bit here in Korea and other countries in Asia. For $50 more you get unlimited web access almost anywhere. No 3G roaming fees! |
