I need to add an additional place of employment to my E1 visa (for which no CBC was required). To add an additional place of employment Korean immigration says I must submit many additional documents, including an FBI CBC. I am about to order it by mail and am wondering if Korean immigration will accept it as is, or is the US Embassy certification (based on my sworn statement) required?

By the way, the US Embassy told me that they don't issue apostilles, only certifications based on my sworn testimony (kind of like a notary stamp I suppose). I called Korean Immigration and got 3 different answers, by the way.

Has anyone done this (successfully) recently? I would like to avoid the expense/hassle/delay of the online apostilling agency, if possible.

I don't know about E1, but for E2 it had to be notarized and then apostilled.

If Kimmii wants it then it is required to have an apostille. An embassy certification will NOT be accepted.

It is a slow process but you can get the apostille by mail from the US state department.

Yes, it must be apostilled. You have to do it or it won't be accepted.

Yes, I had mine but it wasn't apostilled. I had to mail it back to the US, and wait for it to come back with an apostille.
