3 years ago I was 50 lbs overweight, lazy, eating pizza and burgers everyday, and in the worst shape of my entire life. I decided it was time for a change. Though the road since then has been filled with false starts, hard times, and ups and downs, I'm quite proud of what I've been able to do over the years and am quite proud of how healthy and fit I've become. So much so, that some have mentioned it might be time for me to try some natural bodybuilding or fitness model shows... just for fun. I don't consider myself a bodybuilder or a fitness model, I'm fit because I enjoy it.
Still, it would be nice to get into that scene at least. It would be good for me to connect with other like minded people that take their exercise and nutrition seriously. I know there is a small bodybuilding scene here in Seoul, but I've never been able to learn where it is or how to meet others into it. I'd like to try and go to some of the fitness model and bodybuilding shows here and get a chance to network and meet new people. It might also be good to finally meet a gf that doesn't think I spend too much time in the gym and isn't bothered when I explain I like to cuddle in the morning, but it's been a few days since my last hard run and I need to hit the pavement! haha
Anybody know where the elite fitness people train? Is there a website for a governing body for such things? It's okay if it's in Korean, I can click around until I figure it out. |

No sure what the point of your first 2 paragraphs were considering this is an anonymous chat board, not The Biggest Loser.
To answer your actual question, there is no Venice Beach in Korea. They are scattered all over. I have met a couple in Ilsan, City Hall area, Seoul University. For events, just ask your PT at your gym. He'll be able to tell you about upcoming events and shows. In addition, some don't accept foreigners. |

You gotta read the book "Convict Conditioning." If you want true strength, that's the book to read... |

How? With your male modeling? Prancing around in your underwear with your weiner hanging out for everyone to see?
I just thank the Lord she didn't live to see her son as a mermaid. |

Haters gonna hate.
Actually, I'm not really interested in competing. Like I said, I'm more interested in just being around other people that are into fitness. 99% of the people at the gyms I've trained at are just normal people getting exercise in. That's great and all, but I've gotten really into it and have tried all sorts of plans and diets and whatever was popular at the moment. I want to talk to other people that are into that scene as well. I want to be friends with those people. Just like people that are into computers more than your average person enjoy talking software/hardware with others that are into it. It's my hobby and I want to be around others that are into the same hobby.
I wrote the first 2 paragraphs because basically, I'm proud of what I've accomplished. Without question I had a typical "fat American" body just 3 years ago and now it's a complete 180. Anybody that works hard for something wants to show it off. If you build a sport car from a pile of junk, you're not going to drive that car around? |

If I had a "sport car" I would drive it around whether I built it, bought it, won it, or was just borrowing it. I would do this because, well, it's a car and it seems like driving it around is the thing to do. |

10% actually, trying to get into single digits.
And I don't worry about how much I bench. I have good days and bad days. I'm not a vanity lifter that only works chest and biceps. My focus is on building my body as a whole and having things in proportion. I would rather be able to finish a triathlon and do a light weight routine after, than be able to bench press a car and not be able to jog for 5 minutes without clutching my chest. |

Trying to get in I single digit BF and saying you're not doing it for vanity?
Nothing wrong with lifting for aesthetics.
Post a pic of you at 10% bf |

How did you do it? Did you do it by yourself, or did you find a personal trainer helpful? |

To the OP: Serious congrats on overcoming your probs and getting into great shape. Over the last 5 years, I've somewhat let myself go. Now, it's time to do something about it. I think the "easy life" in Korea can be detrimental to our health if we let it be. I think it's cool you took advantage of your situation and turned it into a good one... |
