|
|
I don't plan on wearing it to school but was thinking if I have to attend any formal functions etc it might be good to have one. Since I'm a bit on the tall/broad side I might have trouble finding one off the rack in SK. I know I can get one made while I'm over there but I don't want a sports coat made with glue.
Sorry is this is a dumb questions. |

I've been told to bring at least one just in case. |

You can get one tailor made here for 5% of one month's pay.
Certainly dressing up gets one more respect in this culture. The way people react to me on the street when I'm wearing a suit versus when wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt is like night and day. They aren't being shallow, they are just being superficial in the appearance-matters sense, as indeed the surface of things is valued a lot here.
I recommend you wear a dress jacket/sports coat and dress shirt YOUR FIRST DAY on the job. For that day. Make at least a good first impression. It can go a long way. |

Indeed, but a decent one will cost you quite a bit more than that. |

One can get a nice looking full suit with two extra pairs of pants, a dress shirt and tie tailored for under 400,000 won. Getting a blazer for 130,000-150,000 won is not that hard nor bad looking. If you wanna splurge and pay 200,000 won for a mere jacket and it ain't good wool or tweed fitting exactly then you are at the wrong Korean tailor! |

I brought three of mine, and regularly wear them. The K-ladies dig it, and will tell you, "You are handsome!" |

If you have big shoulders, bring one from home. Some koreans are tall, but few are broad. |

Where can I get one of these mythical deals on a coat and pants and such? Any recommendations for a place in Seoul?
Thanks! |
