Has anyone had any experiences purchasing a complete tour package but not actually taking the tour?
I plan to go to Thailand on a tour but not actually go on a tour.
These days the prices of the guided tours are cheaper than buying just the airfare to certain locations. |

Not usually a problem (did it with both Hana tour and Mode tour).
Since they are escorted tours, just let the tour guide know and he won't worry about you till time for the flight home.

I advise not doing this because the way the travel agency makes money is by ripping tourists off when selling activities and shopping. I've been on a few tourist packages and it's not worth it (I once paid 100 dollars for an hour-long massage in Cebu). If you choose not to go with the tour group, many agencies charge you a penalty of 50,000 to 100,000 won per day.
What you SHOULD do is get airtel (airfare + hotel). If you go alone, it will cost more because the price is set based on two people per room. |
