|
|
With social networking taking such a prominant role in peoples life these days, it's pretty easy to keep track with all the people you've come acquainted with. Still though, i'd like to reminisce with old faces and retell stories of the golden days. Anyway, i'll be travelling during my upcoming 10 year class reunion but i feel really guilty about not going..
Should i detour from my trip and go to the reunion? What was your experience -- good or bad? What did people think of you teaching abroad for so long? |

Well, this year is my 32nd. Over the years, I didn't go to many, but the ones I did go to were fun. At my 15th, I took my son, who was fairly young at the time--it was an outdoor picnic style, so it worked out well. The high school I graduated from didn't do much after that, so for my 30th, I went to the reunion in the city I grew up in--I had a great time and knew more people there than at the place I graduated from. Last year, my school had a combined reunion, where graduates from all years attended--I knew probably less than a dozen people (but there was some great food!). This year, I might go back to that one, but we'll see...
As for the benefits of having taught abroad for so long, I always win the "came the longest distance" contests |

Only if you're better now than you were 10 years ago. Better looking, at least. |

Why go to your reunion? Have more fun with your lover or family. |

I went to my five year and kind of regretted it. I think I'll skip the ten year. |

I wouldn't detour a trip over it.
My 10 year is this August, less than 2 weeks before I am slated to return home. I still keep in touch (somewhat more loosely these days) with a couple girl friends. If I was home, I would only go if we went together.
The fact that you refer to HS as your "Golden Days" and not "Hell" tells me something about your time there. I think you would certainly enjoy your reunion more than I would. If that's the case, why not? |

I doubt I'll ever go to my high school reunion. I was one of those people who didn't fit in in high school.
I definitely want to go to my college reunion. However, I want to attend the reunion for the Class of 2008, not my class (2009), because almost all of my college friends graduated before me in 2008. I really miss my old college friends, especially now that I'm living so far away in Korea. Luckily, all alumni are allowed to attend any reunion, even if they didn't graduate with that class. |

went to my 10 year college reunion in 96 before coming to Korea, that was ok my wife got to meet the people I hung out with in college and we drove up from Texas and stopped in Chicago which was a blast, but it was in all honesty a real hard sell to give money to the univ which i refuse to do (I wont give a dime to the Catholic Church in any way shape or form), so I wont go again even though this year is 25 years, just happens to fall in the middle of finals next week
this year is also my 30 year hs reunion and its during summer vacation, i thought about going but after looking at the cost, to go to the states for 2 weeks and attend it would cost me more than my 6 week trip to SE Asia I'm going on. I posted on fb that I'd be Laos then sort to stick it to them, I was not in the "in crowd" in hs |

Facebook has made reunions obsolete. |
