Hi,

I have already posted this in the General forum but was told I might have more luck here....

I have an external hard drive that has failed- its beeping and making a clicking noise- from the googling around Ive done this is not good!! I HAVE to get the daa back off the drive however- lifetime of photos on the drive not backed up anywhere else!!

So, does anyone know of a data recovery service in Korea?! There's bound to be one in Seoul somewhere- I'm not based in Seoul but would travel no problem! Please help me out- I would appreciate it hugely! I'm at a total loss here- I dont know what I'll do if I can get my data back!! Thanks in advance!!

The first thing I would try is to bring/send it to the manufacturers A/S center to see if it can be fixed.

If it can't be fixed then they are probably the guys who can tell you what to do next about data recovery.

There is a data service center advertised in the tunnel at Yongsan station. Your options are bleak, as these services usually cost $300-400.

FYI the clicking sound means the drive is probably not repairable. Should still be able to get the data, though.

As an absolute LAST resort, I've heard that putting it in the freezer for a few hours makes it readable for a bit

I tried the freezer trick with mine. No luck.

Lost a ton of photos too. But it wasn't worth 400 bucks. You have my sympathy.
