Hi,
I have already posted this in the General forum but was told I might have more luck here....
I have an external hard drive that has failed- its beeping and making a clicking noise- from the googling around Ive done this is not good!! I HAVE to get the daa back off the drive however- lifetime of photos on the drive not backed up anywhere else!!
So, does anyone know of a data recovery service in Korea?! There's bound to be one in Seoul somewhere- I'm not based in Seoul but would travel no problem! Please help me out- I would appreciate it hugely! I'm at a total loss here- I dont know what I'll do if I can get my data back!! Thanks in advance!! |

The first thing I would try is to bring/send it to the manufacturers A/S center to see if it can be fixed.
If it can't be fixed then they are probably the guys who can tell you what to do next about data recovery. |

There is a data service center advertised in the tunnel at Yongsan station. Your options are bleak, as these services usually cost $300-400.
FYI the clicking sound means the drive is probably not repairable. Should still be able to get the data, though. |

As an absolute LAST resort, I've heard that putting it in the freezer for a few hours makes it readable for a bit |

I tried the freezer trick with mine. No luck.
Lost a ton of photos too. But it wasn't worth 400 bucks. You have my sympathy. |
