i've built this horrible habit of sleeping at 3-4am, waking up at 730, then coming home and taking a 2-3 hour nap. it's a vicious cycle. |

Well I went to sleep at about 11 last night and woke up around 10AM today, so I guess that's about 11 hours. Then again I'm a deep sleeper and I really enjoy a long, full sleep, and waking up naturally rather than an alarm. |

In Korea I'm 41. I sleep between 4 and 5 hours a night, this has been my average since around 2004. Still functioning.
I have heard that if you eat cleaner (and that includes less hard to digest crap like red meat) that you need less sleep. I do have a very clean diet. |

i normally head to sleep around 12 (because my girlfriend is doing whatever til that time) and wake up around 7. however, since i've been about 16, i can't go more than an hour or two without waking up and it really starts to grate.
booze means i'll stay asleep but it's not good sleep. |

I'm unfortunately one of those people who requires 9-10 hours of sleep. This means I usually go to bed at 9 or 10 PM during the week so I can wake up at 6:30 or 7 the next morning for work (PS). Sometimes I stay up later, but I'll be a zombie the next day.
Even when I get enough sleep, I still often have problems getting up early in the morning. I'm just not a morning person. This is one reason why I'm looking forward to my next job, an afternoon/evening hagwon. Staying up later and waking up later is much more my style. I've worked an afternoon/evening schedule before back home, so I know. |

Anyone game to try this? >:]

I usually do the 11pm-1am sleep, wakey wakey at 8am. Works decently well, any more sleep and I get too drowsy the rest of the day, any less sleep I get the same thing. |

I generally get 8 hours or so. Sometimes I stay up too late and only get 7. Sometimes I set my alarm for the 8 hours of sleep and then hit my alarm so I am in bed 9 hours.
I always mean to start getting up earlier, but I am pretty horrendous with it. |

So do I, and have been doing so since I first came here in '02. No alarm clock in my place! My first three years I had many late nights with Koreans and would sleep 3ish to 11ish, a full eight hours. But then I moved to a farming town and went to bed much earlier, sleeping 10 or 11 until 5 or 6, getting up with the sunrise usually. I never have worked mornings in Korea so having from sunrise until early afternoon to do whatever I want has been a godsend in my life. Really, these days, my mornings are sacred. I wouldn't trade them for anything, and hence why I'm likely to continue working in afternoon hagwons for the foreseeable future. It's like having two days in one, one to myself and then one at work. Needless to say, I get enough sun. |
