Hi Everybody,

I just moved to Korea and am working and living in Sunae-dong in Bundang. I do yoga and other fitness activities back in the US, and I'm dying to learn what the options are for a foreigner out here.

Does anyone in Bundang (especially Sunae-dong) know if there are any yoga/judo/martial arts/group sports options in our neighborhood? That is, ones where instruction is in English, or at least a decent number of the participants are foreigners?

I would really appreciate any help from my neighbors, as I am starting to fall into atrophy.

There are a couple of boxing gyms in Bundang. There are dozens of yoga places. Tons of gyms around too. Others, I'm not entirely sure about.

I just left Sunae and you should probably just join a gym or start taking whatever class you are interested in. Other foreigners will show up eventually and if you aren't careful, you may make a few Korean friends and/or get offers for private lessons.

Bally's probaby has the largest variety of challenging classes and the nicest facility and the price is competitive, especially if you can pay cash for several months at at time. My building had a gym in the basement for the same price and there were no classes. Most of the larger apartment buildings have gyms. Yours may also. You should at least check yours out a time or two. Finding a workout pal who lives in your building is pretty nice.

When I lived in Jeongja-dong my favorite activity was to bike along the Tancheon. This path goes all the way to Seoul and connects with the Han River bike path. Yes, I know it can get crowded. But, if you ride early in the morning you get a glimpse of ACTUAL "land of the morning calm."
