I used to use Sogang's website (http://korean.sogang.ac.kr/) to study Korean a while back and really liked it. Today, however, I tried to access it again and, while the same content still seems to be there, my browser now has some kind of compatibility issue with it.
I usually use Firefox and, when I access the site using Firefox, the program no longer checks my answers to the questions on the lessons (it used to make a sound and check whether the answer was correct); for the True/False section, I cannot even select an answer.
When I use IE, on the other hand, the site will actually check my answers and allow me to complete the True/False part, but the Hangeul that is used to write the questions (and the lessons) is just a bunch of illegible symbols, completely defeating the point.
Has anyone else had this problem with the Sogang site and, if so, have they figured out a way around it? And, if not, could someone please offer me some suggestions for how I might get the site working for me? |

I just tried Google Chrome, Hangeul showed up just fine, but didn't go deep enough to try the questions/answers. Might be your answer. |

firefox doesn't work with Sogang. in IE go to View>Encoding>Korean and then everything should show up fine (you can do the same thing in FF for when foreign text doesn't show up right). |

Thanks for the suggestion. I just tried the Sogang site on my home computer and didn't have any problems with it when using IE, so I'm guessing it's the settings on my computer at work. Will try the Encoding change you mentioned on Tuesday to see if I can't get it running properly there as well.
Xylox, thank you as well. I'll give the site a try using Google Chrome if I can't find an easier fix. |
