Note to Mods: I am aware of and have read through the old threads on this topic
I have visited a few schools now and have my choices down to 3:
Ganada (Ganada books)
Seoul KLA (Ganada books)
Metro Korean Academy (Beautiful Korean books)
level 1 or 2 depending on how well i do on the tests.
any RECENT experience with the aformentioned schools and/or books?
Thanks |

i'm studying at metro right now.
it's a decent school in my opinion but maybe it's dependant on the teacher.
this is my third month there and i'm at level 3-a (started at level 2-1).
first teacher was great but she finished. 2nd was ok but spoke way too fast and i didn't feel as though i learned as much. current teacher is great.
the beautiful korean books are ok, certainly a lot better than the ganada books i've seen. after level 2 though, you start on the sogang books which are slightly better.
my class has 2 people (including me) and today i was the only student.
negatives: a bit pricy at 270,000 a month, but maybe i'm a cheapskate.
move through the books a bit quick too. i'm happy to be doing level 3 but i'm pretty sure that i'm not at level 3 speaking wise.
overall i'd recommend it. i took a month off and was considering YBM again. however, metro was worth the extra cost for me. |

I've been to Gangnam-Korea KLA and then I went to MKA. Overall the ganada books are not nearly as good at the Beautiful Korean books.
Also, I found the teachers at MKA to be a bit more competent at explaining to a person with a lot of questions and a bit more enthusiastic.
But...like the person before said...it's a little fast. I ended up taking the course for 2 months...then taking a month off to let it process.
If you go to MKA and have the time to study and practice...you will learn a HELL of a lot.
Even if you don't have the time, you will learn a lot just from being in the classes.
Also, if you have the time FOR SURE take the conversation classes on Tuesday and Thursday...fantastic.
PM me if you have any more questions. |
