I enjoy people watching, quiet parks, theaters, clubs, great food, spas/massages, culture and Buddhism. What part of Seoul might I enjoy most? I'm 30, don't drink to excess, love to sing karaoke in America, so I'd imagine I'll love the Korean version. I like to take walks at night, eat late, have a beer in an outdoor beer garden, watch good movies and see the world. Has anyone found a real hip school and area they enjoy that I can research or tell my recruiter about? |

The central part of Seoul is about the same, if you want a foreigner crowd go to Itaewon or Hongdae. Next would be Anyang area and Bundang. For more independent folk, expand out to Bucheon, Incheon, Suwon, and Seongnam. Don't care about transportation time? Go beyond that, Uijeongbu, Anyeong, Cheonan, or Yongin. |

Off the top of my head.....
Korean areas:
Hongdae Station
Shincheon Station
EwhaStation
DonggyoDong
Hapjeong Station
Sangsu Station
Gwangwhamoon Station
International areas:
Itaewon Station
Noksapyung Station
Hannam Dong
HBC (Haebangcheon)
You have a better shot at landing a hakwon job if you want to live in one of these areas. For public schools, location is more or less a crap shoot. |

I really don't think being in a certain area would make much of a difference. As long as your somewhere in the city limits. You can stay out late in your favorite spot and taxi home.
Taxi only starts to get ridiculously expensive (Over 25,000) if the driver takes you for a ride or your going from the south side of the river to the far north side of Seoul.
If your 30, you've probably got some cash reserves. Worse comes to worse, go the ps route and find your own housing in your favorite spot and commute to school everyday. |
