Just looking for a rough guide here. Based on your experiences, how much would one need to bring for 9/10 days in Cebu and the surrounding islands?
I know this largely depends on what you do while your their. I will not be spending money on diving or snorkeling, but I would like to take some boat trips and see some islands. I'm going with a small group so I figure their will be a fair amount of partying but I don't have very expensive tastes. Lodgings will be of the budget variety.
What do you think? Any recommendations or advice greatly appreciated. |

Seriously, budget US$100 per day of time spent in the islands.
You can bring anything left over back home with you. It won't go stale.
Activities can be cheap but they do add up over a few days and you won't be living as a local.
You CAN do it cheaper BUT....
It sucks to be short of cash on vacation as you buy plastic bags of steamed rice cause that's all you can afford on your last day or two.
Even (decent) budget accommodations will cost you P1000-1500 per day.
Add another p600-1000 for food (restaurant prices).
Tourist stuff will add another p1500-2000 to your bill.
Evening activities will add another 1000-2000.
If you want to island hope add another p200-500 per ferry ticket (each way).
Totaled up you fall in between 4000-6500 pesos per day ($90-150).
If you want to spend your time like a back-packer, watch your pesos and go bottom barrel you can do it on $50-75 per day.

Not really. I spent $800 in 18 days in the Philippines, and that was with going to Cebu, Bohol (+ snorkeling), Puerto Princesa (+ flight), and El Nido (+bus, + boat tour package x4).
We ate well and we didn't skimp. We didn't go for luxury accommodations but they weren't bad.
In those 18 days for 800 we did the following:
-Loboc River Tour
-Tarsier Sanctuary
-Butterfly Sanctuary
-Snorkeling in Bacilisag
-4 boat tours/ snorkeling in El Nido
-Countless bottles of Tanduay
-Clubs
-Rented motorbikes and drove around Bohol.
Unless you're scuba diving I don't see how you would spend that much cash per day. |

You can get lodging for under 10 bucks per night at a hostel or guesthouse and you can also drink outside of gas station convenience stores with tables like Cebuanos often do.
Drinking isn't that expensive and Cebu has IT Park and Crossroads as nightlife, though it's not exactly Manila (and that's a good thing). |

Thanks for the replies to my post.
So to phrase the question differently. Do you 1 mil won would be enough to do 9 days based on what I have previously outlined? |

Easily. Like I said, I did twice as long for less than that. |

i recently spent about $1500 on a 15-day trip, so ttompatz's estimate was on the nose there. i did quite a lot though. i started in Cebu and finished in Manila and island hopped the whole way. i went diving a lot, and i went out most every night. even with that, i was way under my $1500 budget, so i went the five star route in Makati on my last night. |
