Disappointing.
I saw an older man assault an older woman on the train early Wednesday morning. The train was so pack so couldn't get away from the man. He continued to shove her and grab her by the arms and shake her. Disconcerting at best. |

I'll never understand how people can stand by and watch that (not in an anti korean way, I mean anyone, anywhere) |

I wish I knew Korean for 'You're a p*ssy for hitting a woman." , ask the woman if she was okay and hope he takes the bait.
I'd also like to see how the cops react when they are called. Is it going to be the foreigner is always wrong or would they appreciate someone defending a woman being assaulted. |

Because many have learned over the years (however sadly) that getting involved in others peoples business almost always never ends well. For every case where there is a hero for getting involved in a situation like that, there is another case of battery/murder/anger from the original victim..etc for placing oneself in that situation.
Not endorsing it...just saying..

There is also the sense of worthlessness that accompanies not acting when you should have.
Contrasted with the sense of worth you get from stepping in to help.
A lot depends on the situation. If its between a couple then there is less inclination to intervene I think. But if its someone being assaulted by a complete stranger...its imperative to help out.
This is the view the Korean police have as well so i gather. |

I saw a man pimp slap his gf in the subway station once. Everyone was just standing there watching, myself included. I felt really guilty about not stepping in but I was new to the country at the time and with some Gyopo friends who advised me not to (they were girls if it matters).
Thinking about it now I still wish I would have done something. But I've heard stories of someone trying to help a battered woman only to have her press charges on him for beating her bf. Go figure. What's a decent person to do in this world anymore? |

I didn't notice the so-called man's name or other vitals in any of the comments on that youtube link. Surprising. |

I was (and am) thinking the same thing. I guess news for most people here includes things that happened nearly 1/2 a year ago....
I'd be embarrassed to even post it. |
