I want to take my wife to a happening dance club here in Seoul. Which club do you recommend? I know that Club Volume recently reopened. We live in Hongdae, but Itaewon area, Kangnam area, etc is okay.

Also, my age may be an issue (over 40), as many clubs don't allow anyone over 20's/early 30's. So please take that into account

Why not take her to JJ's? Your age won't be an issue there.

As long as you dress smart and throw a little cash around, your age shouldn't be an issue at all. Volume was ranked a global top 30 club a few years back...not sure why they felt the need to shut down for a year to renovate, but it's still a great venue.

If you know who to contact, it's easy to get in for free before 11PM. Party doesn't usually pick up until after 12, though.

It's also far more busy than it is happening.

how will they know? Don't look and act like an old man, dress smart/for the scene and you shouldn't have much problems.

Good advice here.

Don't wear a polo tucked into a pair of khakis.

Don't underdress to try and look younger either, especially if you look like you're in your 40's. A decent pair of designer jeans with a sharp dress shirt should do the trick. And again, it helps if you're on some sort of guest list...PM me if you're interested.

Easier said than done for some people. Hell I've seen plenty of people here in their 20's dress like they were in their 40's lol

Pretty decent crowd. Was there over the weekend. I saw mostly younger people around my age, though. As long as you aren't sporting penny loafers and an ascot, you'll do just fine. Actually those might help - but you get my point.

At age 29 I'm starting to feel a bit too old to be in clubs now... Is 30 the age where it's uncool to go to clubs?

If you're 30 and still wait in line and pay cover to get into clubs every weekend to try to pick up "chicks", then yes. If you have an extended social network that involves club perks that you take advantage of every now and then to have a good time at an upscale establishment with friends, then no. Wink

don't be so korean. You're as old as you feel.

if you feel now clubs aren't for you, then find other places to go to or only swing by from time to time.

who is the determinant of cool and uncool btw?

as a foreigner do you care what most Koreans think, considering their cultural hangups? also.. as a 29 year old, do you care what snotnosed fresh out of college fraboys, sorority sisters think?

stay true to yourself.

It is not about how I feel; it is about getting turned away at the door.......
