I'm about to finish my current contract and am looking for a new job. I am going to start resume blasting soon but I was in a crappy spot last year and ended up teaching at a hagwon for 6 months w/o an E2. I really don't want to or care to get into the details of it but I was wondering if I should bother putting it on resume.
Or should I just say I came to Korea last summer and have just been teaching for a year even though I have 1.5years of experience? |

Don't include it.
There was a story on here a while back about someone who put private lessons on their resume and got busted. They got a big fine if I remember correctly, but not deported. |

Yeah put it on your resume.....no worries. Let us know what immigration have to say later when they receive an updated copy of your resume during your E2 visa application.
Be sure to report back, can't wait. |

@carbon: awesome advice, thanks
fwiw i did include my work on the tourist visa on my resume while i was applying for my current job but my recruiter explained the situation to immigration and it was fine and issued me an E2 visa. so they have that resume on file.
so i guess consensus is not to include it? gonna suck explaining a 1 yr gap between graduating uni and coming here...i guess i could say i was a day trader or something. anything else i should put?

Advertising to a prospective employer that you have a history of working illegally in this country is probably not a good idea.
So far as the gap in your resume is concerned, a hogwon probably won't even care. A lot of TEFLers take time off for extended travel. For all they know, that's what you were doing for those 6 months. |
