I suppose I am just thinking out loud here, but I am just wondering why. I got a position for July, the contract is fine and I talked to current teachers. But I am just wondering if this is the norm? Immigration is processing the standard paperwork.

Do most employers want you to bring an apostilled degree for them to have? I am a little of weary of bringing my actual degree, but if i do, whats the point of me bringing an apostilled copy as well? I feel if i am asked to do this, i should only have to do one or the other.

An apostlized copy of your degree is SUPPOSED to be all you need for immigration and the ministry of education...but it used to be an original diploma had to be shown to both.

Unfortunately, not everyone catches up with the times in a...er...timely fashion. Some immi official or someone at the ministry of education might insist on seeing the original diploma. They shouldn't. It is no longer needed. However, it would be simpler, quicker, and involve less ticking off of minor officials if one could simply say, "here ya go," let 'em take a peek, and have done with it, instead of having to educate them on what they should and should not be looking for.

Think of it as insurance against stupid.

...and yes, an apostilized copy of your degree is supposed to be collected and placed on file with immigration -- you lose it, so it is also a good idea to have several copies made when you have the one done....
