Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. I've checked into the fiance visa but I have heard of waiting times as long as a year and a half. The government web page states a waiting time of 3-5 months for the spouse visa, but I don't know if that is exactly reliable. I know that as my husband, he would be guaranteed a visa number as opposed to having to wait for one with the fiance visa. Does anyone know if this speeds up the time considerably? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am assuming that you are talking about US visas. I can't give any information regarding the spouse visa, but I applied for a fiance visa with my girlfriend/fiance at the end of January and we received approval of our application at the end of May (a 4 month turnaround). We're now waiting for the letter with the details for her interview at the US consulate by Gwanghwamun square. We decided to go with the fiance visa instead of the spouse visa because I read online that it was easier to get approval and it seems that that may have been true (given our experience). For what it's worth, we will be based in Seattle. I think there are three or four different offices that handle the applications based on your US address, and the turnaround time differs by each location.

Good luck! Immigrating to the US by any visa can be a huge hassle.

Hi, we are in the process of getting my husband's spouse visa through the embassy in Seoul. If that's what you want to do it's called DCF filing, and for a spouse it is generally one of the quicker ways to get a visa. It can take as quick as 3 months (or less) or up to a year to get the visa/greencard.
You have to be able to prove your husband is going to be provided for in the USA. It's a long process and the first step is making an appointment to file your petition.
Someone on this site (can't remember who, but thanks) referred me to the visajourney website. It's a forum kind of like Dave's and a lot of the people are very helpful. Good luck!

Agree with Visajourney.

My husband was approved very quickly. Don't have the timeline in front of me, but around 7 months from initial filing to arrival in the US.

OP, are you in Korea as a teacher? Than can make things more difficult.
