Hi All
Just wanted to do a quick plug for this fantastic project. Being in Korea, it's almost a crime not to squeeze the most out of what are pretty decent internet connections, so I'm really happy to have a my self-built router up and running. I don't think I'll look back from my dinky Linksys running OpenWRT.
If you happen to have a spare pc lying around it's a great way to use excess hardware and perform really useful tasks like squid caching (you could mirror all of Windows updates or commonly watched youtube videos if you wanted), QoS (traffic shaping), firewalls (yes, you can have more than one), bandwidth graphing, VPNs and Dynamic DNS.
Having just gotten started, I'd be happy to help anyone out who was interested in trying this out. On the whole, it was pretty straightforward to install. There are a still a few bugs in the 2.0-RC snapshots, but it is capable of being extended with packages like freeswitch (a voip server that leaves skype for dead) and snort (intrusion detection).
Anyway, check them out here:
