You're aware that every time someone posts that Kids Club/College are run for the hills type hagwons right?
Also 2.2 is good money in Busan?
I thought 2.2 was a normal starting salary in Korea. |

O.P.
There is nothing wrong with paying your dues, while starting off in the ESL industry. As long as it is with an honest school, go for it.
However, you have to consider the following...
1. How many ACTUALL classes will you teach per week?
2. How long is each class?
3. How many ACTUALL WORKING HOURS. are involved?
4. What sort of "teaching related" activites are involved outside of
working hours?
5. How many other foreign teachers are there?
6. Does the school pay into the National Pension?
7. Is insurance provided?
8. Is there a deposit required for the housing?
9. Is the housing CLEAN, SAFE and FURNISHED?
10. Will you have a roomate?
11. What kind of personal vacation time do you get (should be AT LEAST
10 WORKING DAYS....weekends should not count as a vacation day)
12. Do you get off all national holidays?
13. What age group are you teaching?
Have you looked into the history of the school and spoken with two teachers that are currently there?
2.2 is a bit low for those hours...however, as I said there is nothing wrong with paying your dues, starting off.
Best of luck.

I work those hours, but it's important to make sure that you're not teaching a full 9 hours a day. Of the 9 hours a day I'm at work, I teach for less than six, giving me time to prep and recharge between classes. If you're teaching straight through it can be pretty grueling (and I have no idea when you would mark and prep). |

This. I work those hours as well, but I'm also making 2.9mil for the effort. There is no way in Hades I'd work that many hours a day for 2.2. Even if you only teach for 6 hours of that period, you need to take into account how much prep you will need to do and how the breaks are split up. |

Meh, I teach for about 5 hours of it, and don't have a lot of prep, as I've been using the same books for more than a year. I like teaching kindergarten and I appreciate finishing at a reasonable hour. Feel free to bring up public, but I feel like I would stab myself in the face if I had to teach those classes. |
