Many people actually brought up the point that millions/billions were being pocketed by Bush/Cheney's cronies et al at the time of the feeding frenzy that was the attack and invasion of Iraq, and were very vocal in stating that the true reason for the war was the opportunity to pilfer both Iraq as well as US taxpayers (normal folks). They were labeled conspiracy-theory nut jobs. The US elite and military industrial complex made out just fine in the end, and now that the revelation comes that the 'nut jobs' were actually onto something ($6 billion unaccounted for/has vanished), it's all water under the bridge so what is anyone going to actually do about it. And the swindling will continue, so you may as well as just jump aboard Crooks Inc. and try to get your share, do you think trying to resist will amount to anything? People tried to enact change in the 60's and 70's, didn't really end up accomplishing anything except abolish the draft, so now private militia have become quite profitable. Yeah it may be better that you don't get shot in another Vietnam, but you get used and screwed in the end anyway, so you may as well hop aboard.

Probably because this is hardly the first time it's been brought up:

And it has been mentioned a few places:
