My school contract expires on August 24th, and I'm planning to take a week vacation trip with my wife to Hong Kong, and then return to Korea to spend Chuseok with her family.
Two questions...
1. I'm currently sponsoring my Korean wife (Canadian sponsorship), and our application is currently being reviewed/processed. The Embassy in Seoul has been reviewing our documents since they received it in April. I was wondering if it was possible for both of us to leave Korea to go to HK together..or does she have to stay in Korea to wait for phone calls/interviews or something? Will she be flagged at customs at the airport?
2. When my visa expires and I hand in my ARC to the airport on the 24th, how long can I stay in Korea after I come back from Hong Kong?
Thanks. |

1) Take your vacation. It is unlikely that she will need an interview (spousal visas rarely do - it is CIC policy to NOT do interviews unless there is something seriously wrong in the application).
Korean immigration won't be a problem.
2) as a Canadian you are entitled to 6 months (B2) on arrival (your return).
You can also switch to an F2 (married to a Korean) visa and save yourself the hassle and take part-time / short time work while you wait on the PR visa to Canada.
