I used to get tons of hankerchiefs. I took them home and gave them to my dad for Christmas. He still uses them.

I don't know what to do with them...I guess I could blow my nose in style, but the thought of carrying them around with me all day and having to wash them...I don't know.

Just two pairs of socks, gosh darn it, and my sock drawer needs a good refilling. Can't complain, though. The sock dirth was the result of several parents deciding to go all out. Walked away with two baskets of flowers, two potted plants, a beautiful framed dried floral arrangement, a set of framed prints featuring my kinder kids, barrettes a nice bath set, two bottles of perfume that cost well over W100,000, and a handful of notes and cards from my kids and their parents. Plus, we've got a major event tomorrow involving all the kids and their parents, so there's hope for the sock drawer yet.

Teacher's Day, okay that makes sense. I was wonderin' what all the gift-giving hubbub was about.

Last year I got lucky. This year, so far, just a box of juice.

Lots of flowers, some cakes, a rhinestone encursted hairpin, and lots of utterly adorable cards.

I'm glad I'm not around for this Teacher's Day. The last one was at the middle school. Everyone got a little something, but one of the teachers, who I came to loathe, just kept getting piles and piles of shit. I don't mind students playing favorites, but that was ridiculous.

I'm so glad that I'm the only foreign teacher at my hogwan this year. I really don't miss the ego contest that teacher's day sets off in some people. As if the quality of your teaching can really be measured in the number of socks and handkerchiefs you get.

With that said, my sock count is seven pairs, mostly pink. I think the parents may be suggesting a change in my wardrobe colours.

at my school we were not allowed to accept presents.
The director thinks the present are bribes. We had to return everything, except the food and flowers.
