| I am getting nervous about transferring a visa at the end of the month. I am concerned about getting the letter of release and the timing of it all. Are LOR's generated before one finishes? I am told the dates for transfer must be consecutive with no space in between. My director has said getting the LOR will not be a problem, but he has been playing with the dates I will finish a little bit..... the 30th vs the 28th... Are LOR's frequently issued before one finishes the actual work commitment, and is the date on the LOR more important than the dates on the contract? Thanks. |

| I was asked to fill out my letter of release now but I'm not sure exactly what to write...I am planning on transfering to another school. I just feel wierd signing off that I am leaving before I have the transfer of visa letter. Should I worry about this or make them sign my transfer letter first? |

There can be up to 30 days between the LOR and the new contract (new rules as of Dec. 2010).
You need to have valid time on your ARC to allow the transfer and extension of your sojourn.
The body of the LOR should have your ID:
name,
passport number,
ARC number,
DOB,
nationality,
and under that a brief paragraph that says something to the effect that Your employer (school name) releases you from your contract, effective from (date) and gives permission for you to seek other employment in Korea.
Then you need a valid signature from the school AND their red stamp.
It can be in Korean, English or bilingual.

| Thanks for the speedy response. I found a sample that I am copying. Last question: my principal wants it now, and I don't finish until August 24th. That's about 2 months early isn't it? Obviously I should date the end of contract August 24th. Should I be concerned that they want it so early? |
